The Steinbach Family
The Steinbach family is originally from Austria and dates back to the 13th century. The family moved into the Erzgebirge Steinbach during the middle ages. The Steinbach company was founded over 200 years ago.
The Steinbach Company
The full name of the Steinbach company is Steinbach GmbH - United German folklore workshops. There are two production facilities in Germany where Steinbach nutcrackers and ornaments are handcrafted. The first is located in northern Germany and the second is in the middle of the Erzgebirge region in Marienberg, Germany. The Marienberg plant was built immediately after the reunification of Germany. For nearly 200 years, the Steinbach company has crafted works of art from wood and has established an international reputation for excellence. Karla Steinbach is now the head of Steinbach GmbH and is the 6th generation Steinbach to head the company. She took over as the designated heir from her father, Herr Christian Steinbach, known as the Kind of Nutcrackers.
Although Steinbach produces nutcrackers, smokers, ornamnents and music boxes, Steinbach nutcrackers are the most sought after pieces.
While German nutcrackers are traditional German decorations, Steinbach nutcrackers are the world's most sought after nutcrackers by collectors. Their quality and attention to detail is unsurpassed. Not only available in traditional kings and soldiers, Steinbach also produces wonderful fictional characters and historical characters that are simply fun to collect. Available in sizes and prices to fit any collector's budget, from chubby to limited editions, nutcracker collecting is truly a fun hobby for the beginner and the expert alike.
